Changelog
What’s shipped.
Bolt gets better every month, and updates arrive over the air. The system you buy keeps improving after it’s on the wall. Here’s what’s landed, newest first.
New features land on the sites you’ve already fitted, over the air, with no visit. Here’s what’s shipped, newest first, so you know what to show a customer.
- Doors
Encrypted wireless mesh
Controllers on the same site now encrypt the Bolt.Mesh radio link between them, with a key unique to that site.
- Platform
Mesh health alerts
If a controller on the mesh can’t be reached for unlocks or updates, the app flags it straight away and says what to check.
- Doors
Access levels, redrawn
Pick a level and paint it across doors on a board, or use the grid for larger estates. Tap any door to see who can open it.
- Doors
Faster credential sync
Adding one person sends one small update to the controllers instead of the full list, checked before it’s applied.
- Platform
Built for big people lists
Large lists go to controllers in verified parts and are stored so that a power cut mid-update can’t leave a door with half a list.
- Doors
Lockdown, handled at the door
A lockdown can be lifted at the controller itself when the internet is down, and exit buttons still let people out while the doors stay shut to everyone outside.
- Platform
Signed over-the-air updates
Firmware updates go out from the cloud. Each controller checks our signature before installing, and rolls back by itself if a new version doesn’t start.
- Doors
Every door event names the person
Card and PIN events now say who it was, so the log answers the question you were actually asking.
- Doors
First person in
A door set to unlock in the morning stays locked until the first person with access arrives. If nobody comes in, it stays shut.
- Cameras
Clip sharing links
Send one clip to an insurer or the police with a link: passcode on by default, an expiry date, and one click to revoke it.
- Doors
Reader wiring check
The app spots a Wiegand reader with its two data lines swapped and says so, rather than leaving cards that never match.
- Platform
Custom roles
Build your own roles and choose exactly what each one can see and change, alongside the standard ones.
- Spaces
Booking-only logins
Give staff a login that books desks, rooms and parking and nothing else, limited to the sites you choose.
- Spaces
Book from the floor plan
Click a desk on the floor plan to book it, with a two-week availability strip and a list of who’s in that day.
- Cameras
Camera settings from the cloud
Change what each camera detects and when it records from the web app. The recorder on site picks up the change.
- Doors
Lockdown groups
Sweep across doors to pick them, save them as a named group, then lock the whole group down in one action from the doors page or the floor plan.
- Doors
Events kept through an outage
Controllers store door events on board while the internet is down, then deliver each one exactly once when it’s back.
- Platform
Landlord and tenant accounts
Landlords run a building’s shared doors and give each tenant their own login and their own slice of doors.
- Platform
Ask Bolt
Press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) to jump to any page, find a person or start a common task without reaching for the menu.
- Visitors
Visitor passes
The host sends an invite, the visitor registers from the link without an app, and a time-limited pass opens the right doors.
- Visitors
Evacuation list
See which visitors are checked in, tap to mark each one accounted for, and print or email the list.
- Spaces
Desks, rooms and parking
Book a desk, a meeting room or a parking space, on floor plans uploaded for each site.
